Saints Row Brewing is an independent nano craft brewery located in Olde Towne Gaithersburg, Maryland. We pride ourselves on making a wide variety of styles from easy-drinking classics like our Free State Pilsner, Baker Street Brown Ale, Irish Goodbye Stout, and to experimental brews that you won’t see anywhere else. You won’t find a long list of IPAs here; there’s something for everyone. But Saints Row is more than just beer, we are a community built on craft. Saints Row is the kind of place where you can grab a pint, meet some good people, talk some nonsense, and feel like you belong. But there’s a lot more to the story, so let’s start from the beginning and take you back to 2017…
Tony's dream
Tony Prebula and his wife Lacy opened Saints Row in the Fall of 2017 in Rockville, Maryland. After college, Tony got into home brewing and fell in love with it. So much so he decided to quit his job and volunteer at a brewery where he eventually worked his way up to lead brewer at Union Brewing in Baltimore. Eventually Tony and Lacy would work to open their own brewery. In Tony’s words… “We always had hoped to one day run our own little shop. We wanted to focus on sharing our joy of the craft, the community around brewing together and being together with friends and neighbors.”
The original location was on Taft Street in Rockville. The simple taproom had a cozy rustic feel that some described as walking into a neighbor’s garage. It had 6 taps that Tony kept rotating frequently with new beers, you never knew what you were going to get each time you paid a visit. Some of us still recall shivering at the bar in the dead of winter, coats on and beer in hand with Liam bartending in his shorts.
Move to gaithersburg
After surviving the COVID epidemic, Saints Row needed a bigger home, more production space, and more taps. We found a new home in Olde Towne Gaithersburg. From 6 taps to 16 taps, a larger brewing system and a growing family for both the brewery and Tony. Saints Row was able to host larger events and bring in more community gatherings. Saints Row became a new home for many… staff, neighbors, and friends.
Changing times and a growing family caused Tony to reevaluate owning a brewery. Tony made the decision to ultimately close the doors to Saints Row in April of 2026…
…but that’s not where the story ends, just that chapter in the Saints Row story.
The Dream lives on
Saints Row had become more than just a brewery, it was a second home to many. The impact that we had made on the community—our friends— and the legacy Tony and Lacy had built, deserved to live on. In April 2026, three Saints Row employees—with the help of the rest of the staff and the support of the Saints Row community—worked with Tony on a plan to keep the brewery alive. Jim Martin, Barry Culleen, and Steve Parrish came to a purchase agreement with Tony and Lacy just before closing.
After 5 months of long days, nights, and a ton of paperwork, Saints Row reopened under the new employee ownership in September of 2026. We are excited for what is to come and we welcome you all to come and have a beer with a friend, or meet a new one, and become part of the Saints Row community we all love so much.
